"Dark Passion Play" would be the debut of Anette Olzon as the new singer of the Finnish Nightwish, after the march or rather it would be to say the dismissal of Tarja Turunen.
This would be one of the reasons why the fans were divided and partly turned their backs on this album, with time and pressure from the fans they would end with Anette's health and her replacement by the current singer Floor Jansen.
Understandably is the least valued album of the band, despite the fact that it contains great moments of hard rock and symphonic metal such as the spectacular "The Poet And The Pendulum", the Celtic epic "The Last of the Wilds", the groove "Amaranth" or the poisoned dart and direct message to Tarja "Bye Bye Beautiful".
Even so, the album received great criticism and millionaire sales and was awarded several prizes including the best metal album and album of the year.
