"Behind The Gardens, Behind The Wall, Under The Tree" was the album that would make Andreas Vollenweider known worldwide, although it is not his best work, it is the beginning of a brilliant career and a series of albums that have catapulted him as one of the pioneers and maximum representatives of the new age.
However, we would have to clarify several questions before focusing on this musician and that is that one of the peculiarities of the new age is that it was (is) a genre that was opened to artists from different geographical origins.
This particularity differs remarkably with respect to other genres, which are usually linked to specific places and from there they expanded to the rest of the world.
In the new age we can find diversities as distant as electronic musicians, artists from rock bands that began their solo careers, folklorists from different countries, music therapy composers, jazz musicians who did not do jazz, musicians who were burdened by not singing. , classical musicians who did not make classical music among many other examples.
All of this ended up grouping Irish pipers, sitar musicians, European guitarists, Tibetan singers, Latin percussionists or Japanese synthesists and almost any combination of instruments that exist in the same genre.
Vollenweider could be classified in the category of experimental musician with the harp (electro acoustically modified instrument) where the sounds can go from jazz, pop, atmospheric music, ethnic music and even Latin music with an impressive fusion of styles that sound fantastic well.
From 1981 to 1984 Vollenweider made three albums that today are considered masterpieces of the new age, "Behind The Gardens, Behind The Wall, Under The Tree", "Caverna Magica" and "White Winds".
In 1990 the double album "Trilogy" was published, a compilation of these three albums, plus a new composition entitled "Pace Verde" and a selection from "Eine Art Suite", the first Vollenweider album published in 1979, which some years later was discontinued.
