Ten years after their huge debut, Asia released their fourth album entitled "Aqua", and it represented a new stage in the group's career.
At this point, the formation had undergone some changes of members, if on the previous album "Astra", Steve Howe had left and had been replaced by the former Krokus band guitarist, Mandy Meyer, in this series John Wetton who would no longer participate being replaced by John Payne and would mean the return of Steve Howe to which a new guitarist would be added; Al Pitrelli.
Also on the musical plane, things had changed, since the previous album the band had drifted towards more commercial and melodic sounds with an AOR style, although without definitely leaving aside the progressive.
In "Aqua" this trend is reaffirmed giving the music a more hard rock base, well demonstrated in songs like "Who Will Stop The Rain?" or "Someday", but the stale essence is evident in songs like the epic "Lay Down You Arms" where they record their progressive past.
