Magnum-On A Storyteller´s Night (1985)

With cover art that perfectly reflects the music within, Magnum's fifth album, "On A Storyteller's Night", became one of their best works, perfectly capturing their addictive style that brilliantly blends epic, melodic rock, and progressive structures. It's replete with great keyboard passages, courtesy of Mark Stanway, the powerful hard rock guitars of Tony Clarke, and the impressive vocals of singer Bob Catley. From the energetic "Just Like An Arrow" to the melodic "The Last Dance", passing through the infectious "Endless Love", the AOR "Two Hearts", and the epic and glorious "Haw Far Jerusalem", Magnum showcased their great musical diversity, producing everything from semi-progressive albums like "Chase The Dragon" and "Wings Of Heaven" to clear concessions to high-quality melodic rock such as "The Eleventh Hour", "Vigilante", and "Goodnight L.A".

Magnum-Escape From The Shadow Garden (2014)

Magnum are one of the most superb bands in rock history, with one of the longest careers and one of the most extraordinary discographies, which are nevertheless somewhat undervalued worldwide.
They have always combined virtuosity and melodies perfectly with different styles that have evolved over time, from the progressive rock of their beginnings to the melodic rock of their albums of the eighties and nineties.
In 2014 they released their eighteenth album "Escape From The Shadow Garden", an album that contains a collection of absolutely wonderful songs, with sublime arrangements, some memorable compositions, with those crystalline sounds and the guitars of Tony Clarkin and the tremendous voice of Bob Catley that give the essence to this fundamental and mythical band.

Magnum-Goodnight L.A. (1990)

Magnum are one of the most formidable and at the same time most underrated bands in the history of rock, these British natives of the city of Birmingham began their career in the early 70s, but nevertheless they would not publish their first album until almost the end of that decade with his great progressive "Kingdom Of Madness".
His following works, all of them focused on a rock with progressive brushstrokes, were acquiring their own personality that are well demonstrated in the works "Chase The Dragon" (1982), "The Eleventh Hour" (1983) and in his masterpiece "On a Storyteller's Night" published in 1985.
But it would be from the next album "Vigilante" (1986) where the band gives a 90 degree turn to their music focusing on the most melodic sounds very close to AOR, without losing sight of their complex and progressive sounds.
This album had a logical continuation in "Goodnight L.A." where they continued on the path of the AOR although with a more commercial sound, giving their music a more American style, in part due to producer Keith Olsen.
However, they did not obtain the expected success in the United States, but overwhelmingly in Europe where they would achieve overwhelming success.
Tracks like the powerful "Reckless Man", "Rockin´Chair" or the progressive "Heartbroke And Busted" were combined with half times and ballads that made up a great album of pure AOR.

Magnum-Vigilante (1986)

By the time Magnum published the "Vigilante" album in 1986 they abandoned virtually all of the progressive elements of the previous works and focused on the direct AOR of fresh and catchy melodies. It was recorded at the legendary Montreux Mountain Studios and produced by Roger Taylor (Queen) and David Richards. Mark Stanway's keyboards become the main protagonists, since in the mix, his instrument has been enhanced to the detriment of Clarkin's guitars, however, the compositions are very well built and have an indisputable hook. Outstanding titles such as "Lonely Nights", one of his singles, the ballad "Need A Lot Of Love", the halftime "Midnight (You Won't Be Sleeping)" and the fantastic song of the same name.
