Spandau Ballet were born in England in the middle of "new wave" and their style can be associated with a vital, energetic and danceable pop-rock, at least in this first album “Journeys to Glory” (not a pretentious title), which made them one of the pioneering bands in a fashion called the "new romantics" emerged in the early 80s.
After performing in many of London's top clubs, the group became the center of music craze in St. Tropez, reaffirming their potential again in London with a grand concert on the legendary ship H.M.S. Belfast, perpetually anchored in the Tower of London. After that, they created their own record label, Reformation, and signed with the Chrysalis record company. The first single, "To cut a long story short" was No. 5 at the end of 1980. In 1981 Spandau Ballet was one of the most important groups of English pop with its first album, where catchy songs stood out halfway between the Synthetic pop, the new age and disco music, with certain doses of punk, among them the singles "The freeze", "Muscle bound / Glow", and the catchy songs "To Cut a Long Story Short", "Reformation" or the suggestive "Mandolin".
