Genesis-"Genesis" (1983)

"Genesis" was the successor to the album "Abacab" published two years before, by the time this new release was released, Genesis had already lost much of their role as a progressive band, although it is true that they still retained glimpses of their rich past in some compositions.
At this point the leadership of Phil Collins was evident and his solo successes partially weighed down the Genesis records as a band, so many considered them to be the work of the drummer himself, but registered under the band's name.
However "Genesis" is a quite inspired album and in some moments even dark in some passages like "Second Home By The Sea" or "Mama" which are a clear example of this, and even the progressive medium "Silver Rainbow" maintains the interest from his old fans.
On the other hand "That´s All" despite its commercial pop rhythm is the best of the album, like "Taking It All Too Hard" where the band recalls the times of "Wind & Wuthering", or the interesting "It It's Gonna Get Better".
The album would obtain the number one in the British lists and a ninth position in the North American ones with a global sales that surpassed the six million copies sold.
