In the late 1980s Journey lost one of its founding members, Gregg Rolie, who was leaving the band after touring the album "Departure" exhausted from continuous trips around the world for concerts.
Rolie himself would recommend Jonathan Cain as his replacement who came from the band The Babys and who gives 90 degrees to the sound of the band, endowing it with double harmonies of keyboards and guitar and thus begins the massive commercial success with "Escape" first and "Frontiers" later.
"Escape" is an album of contagious melodies, from the initial and emotional "Don´t Stop Believin", which makes it one of the songs par excellence of the AOR.
The rest of the album shows a band that performs energetic and rhythmic songs, with guitar and keyboard harmonies creating an irresistible world of sound.
With the voice of one of the best vocalists in history like Steve Perry, masterful songs such as "Stone In Love", "Who's Crying Now" or "Open Arms" follow one another that immediately become immortal works of the rock music.
The album manages to obtain nine platinum discs and global sales that exceeded twenty million copies.
