This album is a clear example of how germinal progressive rock was, an album where the foundations of what a few years later would come to explode as the most successful genre of the 70s are.
In Search of the Lost Chord (1968) is a concept album about search and discovery, world exploration, philosophy and music through the centuries, lost love, spiritual development and knowledge of a changing world along with space exploration.
An album as sophisticated as complex, that unlike the previous Moody Blues album where the band was accompanied by the London Festival Orchestra, here in this work they decided to play all the instruments themselves, in total a whopping 33 instruments, some of them exotic like the citara, or the tambura, the oboe or the cello.
