"Countdown to extinction", was an undisputed classic of the 90s, an album that finished consolidating Megadeth as one of the best bands of the genre and probably his latest masterpiece.
Without "Rust In Peace" already showed a more mature band capable of combining the best Thrash Metal with the most classic Heavy. The cause of this was, surely, the reconstruction of the band that Dave Mustaine had previously done, maintaining his faithful squire David Ellefson, who is still giving cane, Marty Friedman and the late Nick Menza, a drummer that every band would want to have and that they were going to miss much later.
It can be affirmed, without fear of error, that the Countdown is a continuation of the infallible formula that the formation had created previously, boosting them to the olympus of the World Heavy Metal.
