"Flying in a Blue Dream" is the third album by the virtuoso guitarist Joe Satriani published in 1989, a work that had an unusual expectation at the time of its publication to be the first where he put his voice to sing on some of the album's songs.
Unlike his predecessor "Surfing With The Alien" Satriani presented much more elaborate compositions, with a progressive experimental evolution as well as a much longer duration than the two previous works in which they barely exceeded 30 minutes.
With this album Satriani would once again be nominated for the Grammy Awards in addition to achieving great sales in the American market.
An album full of explorations of different styles, from instrumental exercises like "Flying in a Blue Dream", or "The Mystical Potato Head Groove Thing", to captivating melodies "I Believe", powerful rock "Ride" to guitar experimentations like "The Forgotten (Part 2)" or "The Bells of Lal (Part 2)".
