The Dave Pike-Noisy Silence (1969)

To the public, Volker Kriegel is a complete unknown, however, in the late sixties he was a very popular guitarist in Germany thanks to his self-taught skills on the guitar and other instruments such as the Hindu sitar.
As a sociologist by profession, he would participate in different jazz bands and even participate in various albums.
One of his biggest contributions was for the vibraphone player Dave Pike's band on the album Noisy Silence, which had a great impact in the late 60s.
Already with his own band, the Orchestra Mild Maniac, he would record some well-received albums.
The following years he would form other bands and in addition to collaborating with prestigious musicians and record several dozen good records until years later he would retire to found his own record label and collaborate with the band Passport, in addition to directing movies, directing a radio. program among other tasks.
His style merged different musical schemes from different cultures, which we could classify as progressive jazz.
