"A Tab In The Ocean" was Nektar's second album, published in 1972, along with "Remember The Future", they are the creative zenith of this English band although formed in Germany. "A Tab In The Ocean" is quieter, more symphonic and psychedelic than "Remember The Future" and that ... "Sounds Like This" (another magnificent work). Closer to his first album, "Journey To The Center Of The Eye", his second album retains some of that psychedelia.
The piece that gives name to the album and that lasts more than 16 minutes is a jewel of Progressive Rock and clearly the best of the album. Along with the next one, "Desolation Valley", they have (quite a few) moments that remind Pink Floyd, especially the most spatial stage of his first albums. "King Of Twilight" is the most rocker of the album, to the point of having been versioned by Iron Maiden.
"A Tab In The Ocean" is a classic product of those years in which Progressive Rock was going through its best moment. Still lagging behind the great dinosaurs like King Crimson, Genesis, ELP or others, Nektar had his moment and left us essential works of Rock Prog, especially "Remember The Future" and "A Tab In The Ocean".
