Roxy Music-Avalon (1982)

Avalon remains resistant to time and fashion the defense that never fails, that series of exceptional songs. The fame of this album rests for the remains on two pillars that belong on its own merit to the canon village of the best romantic songs of the twentieth century. The perfection of More than this and the mystery that conceals Avalon's false appearance are already legend. But they are not alone. Both The space between, Take a chance with me, To turn you on or True to life are somewhat forgotten gems, in which Avalon's decadent spirit probably resides.

Avalon was in practice the last official Roxy Music album before his separation and the subsequent definitive start of Bryan Ferry's solo career. Here the musical change that the group had already undergone, from its beginnings in glam-rock to “adult” melodies with very careful arrangements, takes definite form, with the exquisite Phil Manzanera as the maximum responsible (who would later collaborate on several albums of the race of Ferry as soloist). The album was a bestseller in the United Kingdom, with the hit More than this that reached number 1 on the charts and, in turn, was the only platinum record that got the band in the United States in its entire career.
