Islands was King Crimson's fourth album (1971), with a different formation than his previous work Lizard (1970).
In this new work, the bassist and vocalist Boz Burrell (who later went on to join the mythical Bad Company) and Ian Wallace to the drummer who would replace Andy McCulloch stand out in an overwhelming way.
Islands is an almost perfect album from start to finish, full of calm and equal parts startles.
The beautiful Formentera Lady and the great Sailor´s Tale give a good account of this and The Letter´s combines that strength and tranquility with an amazing naturalness.
Even at that time the shadow of the Beatles was very long and not even Robert Fripp escapes it, so we have Ladies on the Road, with evocative melodies towards those of Liverpool.
In this album Fripp does an impressive job on the six strings, demonstrating it in the baroque Prelude Song of The Galls and in the outstanding Islands that closes the album.
