In 1978 Emerson Lake and Palmer published their latest work titled "Love Beach", an album that was a resounding failure and largely a comic and repulsive work, nothing worthy of a band as important as they were ELP, it would precipitate the dissolution of the mythical trio shortly after.
In honor of the truth, we must clarify that this album was recorded due to the demands of the record company and not on ELP's own initiative.
Almost ten years later, both Greg Lake and Keith Emerson wanted to revive the band and publish a new album, but the third component Carl Palmer was already immersed in his own band Asia, so this long-awaited meeting would soon go to ruin to disenchant their fans.
However, Emerson's endeavor paid off when they recruited the great drummer Cozy Powell instead of Palmer.
With this formation, which coincided with the initials of their surnames, with the original (ELP) they entered the studio and recorded the honorable album "Emerson, Lake and Powell" published in 1986.
An album where Emerson and Lake resort in part to their roots, with long progressive themes, adaptations of classical music and instrumental ballads, but far removed from the pompous compositions of yesteryear, resorting to a fresher and more modern sound, according to the times that ran without fully entering the topical commercial sounds that other leading bands of the 70s made in the 80s.
