Status Quo-On The Level (1975)

With their eighth album, "On The Level", Status Quo achieved their second number one hit on the British charts, in addition to numerous gold and platinum records worldwide. On this release, the English band boldly embraced infectious and addictive hard rock boogie, evolving towards more seductive rhythms and solidifying their signature sound. They had already achieved great commercial success with three albums: "Piledriver" (1972), "Hello!" (1973), and "Quo" (1974), all of which combined their blues-rock roots with boogie, seasoned with brilliant acoustic songs. But it was with "On The Level" that they achieved the stylistic maturity necessary to leap into the pantheon of rock's greatest bands. Songs like the extraordinarily catchy "Down Down", the refined "Where I Am", the rock and roll "Little Lady", the boogie blues "Most Of The Time" or the boogie rock "I Saw The Light", "Over And One", "Broken Man", "What To Do" and "Nightrider", constitute the magnificent repertoire of one of the masterpieces of rock music of the 70s.
