Joe Jackson-Night And Day (1982)

Although often overlooked by the general public, Joe Jackson is one of the most brilliant artists to emerge from the golden age of new wave. Possessing a magnificent voice and a refined image, Jackson was a master of the piano and violin; early in his career, he was ranked alongside major figures such as Graham Parker and Elvis Costello. His style was always infused with elements of jazz, reggae, funk, Latin music, and R&B. Following his 1979 debut album, which featured his first major hit, "Is She Really Going Out with Him?", the British singer moved to New York. There, he demonstrated a desire to revitalize styles that were somewhat in decline while simultaneously expanding his musical palette, delivering an album filled with unique and genuinely bold tracks, such as the exceptional "Steppin' Out", the reflective "Real Man", the lighthearted "Night and Day", and the moving "Breaking Us in Two". Subsequently, the song "Steppin' Out" was nominated for Grammy Awards in the Record of the Year and Best Male Pop Vocal Performance categories, while the album reached high positions on the charts in both the United Kingdom and the United States.
