Status Quo-If You Can´t Stand The Heat (1978)

Following the phenomenal album "Rockin' All Over the World", Status Quo remained true to their accessible boogie-rock sound with the release of "If You Can't Stand the Heat". While not as powerful a repertoire of hard rock boogie as previous albums like "Quo" or "Blue for You", this eleventh album saw the British band add improved arrangements, making their songs catchy and seductive. Tracks like "Again and Again", "Oh, What a Night", "Gonna Teach You to Love Me", "Stones", "Let Me Fly", and "Long Legged Lina" follow this path. Recorded at the height of the dance music craze, they even dared to nod to that trendy style with "Accident Phone", and ventured into other sounds like the soul/gospel of "Oh! What a Night", with its addictive choruses, and the commercial ballad "Someone Show Me Home". With this album, the group positioned itself on the starting line to reach the commercial peak that would soon arrive with the albums "Whatever You Want", "Just Supposin' " and "In The Army Now".
