Considered by many to be a Steve Perry solo project "Raised On Radio" was Journey's ninth album, which by the time it was released had been reduced to a power trio by the abandonment of Steve Smith and Ross Valory.
Produced by Steve Perry himself with Jim Gaines, the band had to hire session musicians to record this album, including bassists Randy Jackson and Bob Glaub and drummers Larrie Londin and Mike Baird.
An album that contains a more heterogeneous repertoire, where elements close to funk are applied, with saxophones and harmonicas, instruments that Perry himself had introduced on his album "Street Talk" two years earlier.
Even so, Perry records his masterful voice on "Girl Can't Help It", as well as songs like "Suzanne", "Be Good To Yourself", or "Why Can't This Night", demonstrate the instrumental talent of Neal Schon and Jonathan Cain.
