In 2002, guitarist Ted Nugent released his first album on the Spitfire label, "Craveman", which follows a stylistic approach very much in line with other groups and artists on the same label. This is the Detroit guitarist's twelfth album, and it represents, to some extent, a return to the raw and visceral sound he had already showcased on his albums in the 1970s. This is undoubtedly his most brutal work, directly focused on modern metal and hardcore. For this project, Ted Nugent opted for a band consisting only of guitar, bass, and drums, featuring musicians Marco Mendoza and Tommy Clufetos. Replete with crackling, razor-sharp riffs, angry vocals, and deafening screams, the result is a radical album of modern and aggressive heavy metal. However, most of the songs included here have an added infectious and catchy quality, while still retaining his characteristic style. Songs like "Crave", "Rawdogs & Warhogs", "Kistrphnky" or "Damned If Ya Do", are clear examples of this updated heavy metal, where Ted Nugent's undeniable talent with the electric guitar stands out.
