Nektar-Recycled (1975)

This is another essential album from the British-German group Nektar. "Recycled" is crafted as a concept album that unfolds into two thematically linked suites of classic progressive rock. The lyrics, which accompany the album's themes, are prophetically based on a hypothetical future where recycling becomes the only way of life, and musically it showcases a powerful and energetic symphonic progressive rock, infused with jazz nuances, psychedelia, Latin rhythms, and funk rock. Roye Albrighton's talented guitar work, with its sharp riffs and spacey style, drives much of the album's sound. The first part of the album oscillates between frenetic rhythms and thunderous guitars with brief interludes featuring Larry Fast's unmistakable synthesizer melodies, and a second, more eclectic and somber section. With this album, Nektar followed in the footsteps of unquestionable works within progressive rock, and although they had already reached the highest level of musical inventiveness, combined with concepts that invited reflection due to their intelligent lyrics, this album was their definitive culmination.
