Jadis-More Than Meets The Eye (1992)

Jadis are one of the leading bands of the so-called neo-progressive hard rock movement, which began with considerable notoriety by successfully supporting British groups IQ and Marillion in the mid-eighties. Originally formed in 1982 by guitarist Gary Chandler, throughout their career they have had several members, including bassist Mick May, drummer Steve Christey, bassist John Jowit, and keyboardist Martin Orford, the latter a member of IQ. Jadis's first proper album was actually a collection of demos produced by Marillion guitarist Steve Rothery. This first release is a charming collection of guitar-driven neo-progressive songs. For her second album "More Than Meets The Eye" released under the Giant Electric Pea label, Jadis showcases a neo-progressive style related to the music of IQ, but in a less gloomy and melancholic tone as demonstrated by the tracks "Sleepwalker", "Wonderful World" or "Holding Your Breath".
