José Cid-10.000 Anos Depois Entre Vénus E Marte (1978)

José Cid is a prominent Portuguese musician who, for much of his artistic career, has focused on pop/rock sounds, but whose extensive discography includes one of the most acclaimed albums in progressive rock. "10,000 Anos Depois Entre Venus E Marte" (10,000 Years Later Between Venus and Mars), as this album is titled, was his second full-length release. On this album, the Portuguese musician enlisted various collaborators, such as Mike Sargeant (guitars), Zé Nabo (bass), and Ramon Galarza (drums), to create a work that, conceptually, is replete with Mellotron and synthesizer passages, combined with superb work on vibrant electric guitars. This gives the music an elegant and vigorous space rock style reminiscent of contemporary bands like Camel, Eloy, and Pink Floyd.
