After a three-year hiatus from the stage, Status Quo released their seventeenth album, "In The Army Now", in 1986, which was met with great enthusiasm by their vast legion of fans worldwide. In this new release, the London band continued to showcase their addictive boogie blues rock, embellished here with exciting horn arrangements and synthesizers that permeate many of the tracks. At that time, Status Quo consisted of the regular members Francis Rossi and Rick Parfitt (guitars and vocals), Andy Brown (keyboards), John Edwards (bass), and Jeff Rich (drums). Produced by Dave Edmunds and Pip Williams at Chipping Norton Studios in Oxfordshire, the result of this new recording is an excellent work, featuring the catchy title track, as well as the superb "Dreamin' ", "Rollin' Home", "Overdose", "Calling", and a successful cover of Ian Hunter's "Speechless". The subsequent reception of the album would bring them several gold and silver records in different countries, as well as very high positions in the charts of much of Europe.
