Blue Oyster Cult-Curse Of The Hidden Mirror (2001)

After a three-year hiatus, in 2001 the New York band Blue Oyster Cult released their fourteenth album, a prequel to "Heaven Forbid", showcasing a lighter sound but still clearly rooted in the metal of their 1970s era. At that time, Blue Oyster Cult still consisted of three of its founding members: Eric Bloom (vocals and guitar), Buck Dharma (guitar and vocals), and keyboardist Allen Lanier, while drummer Bobby Rondinelli and bassist Danny Miranda completed the lineup. "Curse of the Hidden Mirror" features memorable tracks such as the heavy rock anthem "Showtime", the hard rock songs "The Old Gods Return" and "Eye of the Hurricane", the dynamic "Pocket", the heavy metal track "One Step Ahead of the Devil", and the semi-progressive "Dance on Stilts". While not reaching the creative heights of their 70s masterpieces, "Curse Of The Hidden Mirror" is another magnificent recording from this legendary American band.
