Journey-Eclipse (2011)

In 2011, Californians Journey returned to the recording studio to record their fourteenth studio album, "Eclipse", a work notable for being the second featuring their new vocalist, Arnel Pineda. The band, considered the kings of AOR (with over one hundred million records sold worldwide), returned to deliver another great melodic rock album, driven by the powerful guitar work of Neal Schon. However, "Eclipse" deviates from the typical style that made Journey famous, subtly steering their music towards a more contemporary sound. Without abandoning their original sound, certain bold and avant-garde elements permeate many of the album's tracks, a prime example being "Edge of the Moment". In addition to Schon and Pineda, the band also retains longtime members Jonathan Cain, Ross Valory, and Deen Castronovo, three musicians who experienced the group's golden age. Other songs like the haunting "Chain Of Love", the melodic "To Whom It May Concern", the gratifying AOR "City Of Hope", the grandiose "Tantra", the thrilling "Ritual" or the catchy "Anything Is Possible" and "Someone", take us back to the best of Journey.
