The Flying Burrito Brothers-The Gilded Palace Of Sin (1969)

The Flying Burrito Brothers is one of the greatest country rock bands in history, comprised of two of the genre's most influential figures: former Byrds members Gram Parsons and Chris Hillman. In the early 1970s, they released some of the genre's masterpieces. Founded in 1968 by Hillman and Parsons, who, along with bassist Chris Ethridge, guitarist Pete Kleinow, and drummer Eddie Hoh, completed the band's original lineup. With this lineup, the band released their seminal debut album, "The Gilded Palace of Sin", a true masterpiece of country rock and one of the greatest debut albums in rock music history. Here you'll find gems like the gospel-tinged "Sin City", the melancholic "Hot Burrito #1", the psychedelic "Christine's Tune", the borderland-tinged "Do Right Woman", the folk-infused "My Uncle", and the irresistible "Wheels", the latter a clear precursor to what bands like The Eagles and Poco would later achieve, with its excellent vocal melodies. A year later, they released the brilliant "Burrito Deluxe", featuring Bernie Leadon, a future founding member of The Eagles, and already hinting at Parsons's growing disinterest in the band (a move he had already made with The Byrds), which he would leave after the album's release. In the following years, The Flying Burrito Brothers continued to release a series of excellent albums, highly regarded in the country rock scene, such as "The Flying Burrito Bros" (1971), "Flying Again" (1975), and "Airborne" (1976). However, during the next two decades, due to frequent lineup changes, they continued to release albums that, despite their undeniable quality, went largely unnoticed by the general public, producing more predictable country pop albums with less commercial and media impact.
