Oz Knozz-Ruff Mix (1975)

Another of those obscure, short-lived bands was Oz Knozz, an ephemeral group from Houston, who released an explosive album of simple yet powerful hard rock that was highly original. Their only work, titled “Ruff Mix”, dates from 1975, and on it this forgotten Texas band showcased a style brimming with heavy guitars featuring wah-wah effects, a Hammond organ accentuated with Moogs and synthesizers, and expressive vocals, as demonstrated by tracks like “For Pat”. Meanwhile, the heavy blues-rock “Second Time Blues”, the progressive instrumental “Doodley Squat #1”, and the jazz-rock “Doodley Squat #2” are all exciting examples of the potential of an anthological album unknown to the general public. This is another record coveted by vinyl collectors due to its limited original edition, and exorbitant prices are paid for one of the few copies available today.
