Tyrannosaurus Rex-A Beard Of Stars (1970)

With his fourth album, Marc Bolan definitively shifted towards the electric side of rock. Here, he almost completely abandoned his forays into psychedelic folk sounds, venturing into a more accessible musical evolution, although he still retained certain psychedelic elements very present in his first three releases. With the contribution of percussionist and other instrumentalists Mickey Finn, Bolan unleashed his electric guitar and organ, which brought greater musical breadth and creativity to his work. In this release, the short songs could easily be part of longer compositions, and the seeds of glam rock are present in each and every one of them. The visceral drive of the powerful guitar in "Elemental Child" foreshadows what would later appear on T. Rex albums. Other songs like the funky, epic-tinged "Pavilions Of Sun" leave us with a taste of the later album "Electric Warrior", while the experimental progression of "By The Light Of A Magical Moon" or the dark "Wind Cheetah", were the perfect opportunity for Marc Bolan to begin expanding into new musical frontiers that would bring with them greater experiments of great creativity and at the same time greater commercial and media exposure.
