In the late 1960s, several members of Jefferson Airplane decided to found a side project called Hot Tuna, which moved away from the psychedelic sound of the main band and focused on classic country blues/folk. These members were Jorma Kaukonen and Jack Casady, who recruited harmonica player Will Scarlett and recorded their first album in September 1969. Released in 1970, this debut album showcases an unpretentious trio, free of any stardom, simply giving free rein to their musical passions. With great humility, they created an incredible, high-octane blues record. Using only bass, acoustic guitar, and harmonica, they gave birth to a true marvel of white blues, a classic of the genre. From blues classics to original compositions, the album displays flashes of Delta blues. Magical, hypnotic and cathartic blues flood a repertoire in which "Hesitation Blues", "How Long Blues", "Uncle Sam Blues", "Don't You Leave Me Here", "Death Don't Have No Mercy", "Know You Rider" or "Winin' Boy Blues" stand out.
