The Bubble Puppy were a Texas band who had their moment of glory with their only album, released in 1969, titled "A Gathering of Promises". Their psychedelic style with hints of garage rock has earned them a cult following in American rock. Driven by guitarist Rod Prince and bassist Roy Cox, their main songwriters, they climbed the charts thanks to songs like "Hot Smoke and Sasafras" and "Lonely", two tracks infused with distorted fuzz guitars and magnetic vocal harmonies, supported by the superb contributions of drummer David Fore and rhythm guitarist Todd Potter. Other standout tracks here include the devastating "Elizabeth", the psychedelic pop-rock "Todd's Tune", and the more avant-garde "I've Got To Reach You". Due to the album's success, the band moved to Los Angeles but would eventually spread throughout the great musical and cultural hub of the American West Coast.
