Mahavishnu Orchestra-Birds Of Fire (1973)

After the spectacular first album of the Mahavishnu Orchestra, the group led by John McLaughlin released "Birds of Fire" two years after the aforementioned "The Inner Mounting Flame".
Recorded with the same training as the previous album, these five great instrumentalists and virtuoso musicians manage to mix improvisation with powerful rock, blues, country and oriental music, all fused with airs of funky in a balanced way.
Themes like the progressive jazz "Bird of Fire", the memory of Miles Davis in "Miles Beyond" and the rock with experimental tendencies "One World" make this album the quintessential jazz rock.
