Kenny G-Kenny G Live (1989)

In the late 1980s, saxophonist Kenny G was at the height of his popularity after releasing five albums focused on smooth jazz. In 1989, the double live album "Kenny G Live" was released, a perfect sonic document reflecting his melodic contemporary jazz. Recorded during the promotional tour for his previous album, "Silhouette", which would go on to achieve impressive sales of over 25 million copies worldwide, this live recording offers an excellent overview of some of his best compositions, such as "Going Home", "Songbird", "Midnight Motion", and "Silhouette", among others. His impressive mastery of the saxophone, combined with the fantastic instrumental passages of his backing band comprised of extraordinarily talented musicians like Lou Pardini (keyboards), John Kane (drums), Paulinho da Costa (percussion), Vail Johnson (bass), and John Raymond (guitar) create a kind of greatest hits collection, all under exquisite production and with superb instrumentation.
